About

ImageToAll is a free online image converter. It converts between PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, AVIF and PDF, and can read HEIC and SVG where a decoder is available. There is no account, no payment and no software to install.

What makes it different

Most converters say nothing about where your files go. This one is explicit, because the answer differs depending on the conversion and a blanket claim would be false for some of them.

  • Conversions run in your browser where the browser can do the work. That covers PNG, JPG, WebP and AVIF output, and GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG input on current browsers. In those cases the file is never transmitted.
  • Conversions that the browser cannot do are sent to the server. HEIC without a platform decoder, AVIF on older browsers, and TIFF are the usual cases. The file is converted and returned in the same response, and is not written to disk.
  • Every file is labelled with whether it was processed on your device or on the server, and the summary after a batch states how many were uploaded.

How it is built

The front end uses the browser's own image pipeline: the canvas element for decoding and encoding, and a small ZIP writer written for this site so a batch can be saved in one click. The server side is PHP, with no database and no framework. When the host has an image library installed (Imagick is not available here), it is used for the formats it supports.

Where no image library is present, the server falls back to codecs written for this project, which is why the tool still works on a plain PHP host.

What it does not do

  • It does not generate images, edit them beyond resizing, or apply filters.
  • It does not convert video, and it does not convert animated output: GIF and WebP animations convert their first frame, and the result states the frame count.
  • It does not keep your files. There is no history and no gallery, so there is nothing to log into to find an earlier conversion.
  • It does not claim a conversion succeeded when it did not. If a format cannot be read or written on this deployment, the tool says which capability is missing.

Current limits

Server-side conversions accept files up to 21.0 MB and up to 40,000,000 pixels, with a 25 second processing budget per request. Conversions that run in your browser are limited only by your device.

Cost

The service is free to use. It is supported by advertising, which is the only reason advertising appears on any page. There are no paid tiers, and no feature is held back behind a payment.
