Convert JPG to PNG
Convert JPG images to PNG. The pixels are kept as they are and stored without further loss, so the result does not degrade again.
This conversion runs in your browser. Your file is not uploaded.
Drop files here, choose them with the file picker, or paste an image from the clipboard.
Drop images here
Up to 40 files at once. PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and SVG. You can also click anywhere in this box, or paste an image from the clipboard.
PNG
This page converts to PNG.
Applies to JPG, WebP and AVIF output only. For PDF it sets the quality of the image placed on each page.
A PDF page has no transparency, so transparent areas are composited onto the background colour below.
Used only by "Fit the page to each picture", to work out how many points an inch is worth.
Leave empty to keep the current size.
JPG and PDF pages cannot store transparency, so transparent areas use this colour.
What changes when become PNG
JPG has already discarded detail permanently. Converting to PNG preserves what remains but cannot restore what was lost.
PNG files are usually much larger than the JPG they came from.
Step by step
-
Add your files
Drop them onto the panel, use the file picker, or paste an image from the clipboard. You can add up to 40 files and convert them in one pass.
-
Set the PNG options
PNG is stored losslessly here, so there is no quality setting to choose. Add a width or height if you also want to resize, and pick what should happen when the proportions do not match.
-
Convert and download
Press Convert. Each file gets its own download button once it finishes, and with two or more finished files you can save them together as a ZIP archive.
Frequently asked questions
Is this JPG to PNG converter free?
Yes. There is no account, no per-file charge and no daily limit. You can convert as many files as you need.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tool runs in the page. Where your browser can do the work it does so directly; where it cannot, the server handles the conversion.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. PNG stores an alpha channel, so transparent and partly transparent pixels survive the conversion.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes, up to 40 files per batch, and you can download the results individually or together as a single ZIP archive.
Can I resize while converting?
Yes. Enter a width, a height, or both. If both are given and the proportions differ, choose whether to fit inside the box, fill it and crop, or stretch.
Is there a file size limit?
Nothing is uploaded for this conversion on a current browser, so the practical limit is your own device's memory.

PNG or JPG: choosing the right format
The choice comes down to two questions: does the image need transparency, and does it contain text, lines or flat colour? Everything else follows from those.
